This is fantastic ! So happy to see it open again. It was either my dear mom or her parents that once worked there, way back in the 1930’s I believe, Phyllis Strong. Her father was John Thomas Strong and her mother was Lily or Lillian ( they’re buried in your nearby cemetery ). Mom eventually went to manage the White Hart Hotel in Braintree and then, in the early 50’s, my parents ( dad’s name Arthur Murphy ) moved to Victoria B.C. Canada. I came along in ’67.
I believe mom’s youngest sister is still there, Pat Strong ( mom was the 10th. of 11 children ).
Lastly, might you happen to have any archives of the pub ? Perhaps records of who worked there between the 1920’s and 1940’s ?
So happy you are back open and I hope, one of these days, to take a journey to the place my mom once lived. All the best ! Tracy Murphy-Blais
